Location can be the most critical of all sign considerations. The city and county all have their own sign ordinances that must be adhered to. Removal of your sign and/or fines can result if the guidlines are not met and followed.

Here are some items to consider and questions to ask...

Where am I able to put a sign?
You may be able to put a sign on your building facial or next to the street (or both). One other consideration is parking signs or street signs.

Building Facials
If you are allowed a building facial you need to know your maximum allowed square
footage for the sign. This can make a difference in how the sign is made. If you are leasing your space, especially in a strip mall or buisness park, be sure to check
your lease agreement on allowable square footage for your sign. You will also need to know the sign types allowed, which should also be specified within your lease.
If planning a lighted sign, check access to the electrical system. The more difficult it is to get to, the more expensive it is to have the sign connected.

Roadside and Right-of-Way Signs
If your sign is going close to the roadway or is a main entrance sign, you will need to know how far from the roadway your sign must be. As with a building facial, you will need to know the maximum square footage allowed for this type of sign. You will also have a height limit. If you are within the city, make sure the type of sign you want is allowed. For example, city ordinances typically won't allow lighted signs in the downtown or "oldtown" areas.
